How about that
for a rebuilding year? The bad losses aren’t really bad losses at all and
this team was one point away from beating Illinois on a neutral court in
November. Another win at Arch Madness would have been nice, but nearly two
weeks of rest isn’t a bad deal either. Like most MVC teams, the defense is
exceptional. The Shockers do everything quite well, but they excel on the
glass. Mark Turgeon’s squad ranks in the top 20 nationally in that category
led by Paul Miller, P.J. Couisnard and Kyle Wilson. The free-throw shooting
is solid at 72.2% and, despite the youth in the backcourt, Wichita State
turns the ball over only 13 times per contest.
