My "bug", and other college football items

August 30th, 2007

There's been some talk on this site about "the bug"...the feeling that college basketball is just around the corner. Well, even though I love college hoops (if I didn't then why am I here?), I'd like to get this fact off of my chest:

College football, you are my crutch.

Vernon Goodridge Transfers to La Salle

May 19th, 2007
Story Link:

La Salle University announced that 6’9 junior Vernon Goodridge has transferred to La Salle from Mississippi State. Goodridge, formerly a consensus Top 50 prospect out of high schoo, will be eligible to compete for the Explorers beginning with the 2008-09 season. “Vernon was one of the most highly ranked and sought after prospects in country out of prep school,” explained Giannini. “We recruited him then and we are very happy that he decided to come to La Salle now.” He averaged barely eight minutes per game in two seasons, but blocked 35 shots in that time and pulled an average of 2.5 rebounds per game.

Jamont Gordon's Draft Experiment Over Early

April 30th, 2007
Story Link:

Mississippi State sophomore guard Jamont Gordon has withdrawn his name from the NBA Draft pool, only a few days after declaring for the Draft. "I got an evaluation on myself and it said late second round," Gordon said. "I'll just wait until next year." Rivals.com reported that Gordon had announced his intentions to enter the NBA Draft late Thursday night. Most mock drafts did not include Gordon, although many feel as if he is a borderline first-round pick in 2008. He averaged 16.0 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 5.3 assists this past season.
