Position: SF/PF
Height: 6”8”

Accolades: First Team All-ACC (07), Third Team All-American – CHN (07), Third Team All-American – AP (07), Second Team All-American – Rivals.com (07), Second Team All-American – SI.com (07), ACC Second Team All-Tournament (07), Second Team All-ACC (06), Class AAA Honorable Mention All-State – Georgia – high school (02).
Scouting Report: A superb athlete with a NBA-ready body.
Strengths: Big time scorer – averaged just under 20 a game his senior year. Very strong and athletic. Inside/outside threat - can post up smaller men or take bigger guys out on the perimeter. Long arms. Good face up jumper. Shooting range extends to behind the three-point line. Great leaping ability – very explosive. Good free throw shooter.
Weaknesses: A year older than other seniors due to a redshirt season. Turns the ball over too much. Can be foul prone – takes some foolish fouls. Late developer – didn’t make a huge impact his freshman or sophomore years. Game is still raw – can be a little clumsy, drops passes, forces up shots.
Projected 2007 Draft Range: Mid first round pick.
Consensus: Thornton is a NBA-caliber athlete. While his game still needs some work, especially if he is going to play mostly the small forward spot in the NBA, all the tools are there for him to be an above average NBA player.
