Kevin Durant: NBA Draft Profile
College: Texas
Class: Freshman
Stats: ESPN.com
Position: SF/PF
Height: 6”9”
Weight: 225lbs
Accolades: McDonald’s All-American – high school (06), co-MVP McDonald’s All-American Game – high school (06), First Team All-American – high school – USA Today and Parade magazine (06), Second Team All-American – high school – Parade magazine (05).
Scouting Report: A potential franchise player in the NBA who can do it all.
Strengths: Scoring – Durant can score in a variety of ways. He is a great long-range shooter and can also take his man into the post and score over him. Can also score off the dribble and on pull-up jumpers. Is also an excellent free throw shooter. Great rebounder. Extremely long arms allow him to grab steals and block shots. Has a 7’4” wingspan. Was a dominant player in a big conference his freshman year of college.
Weaknesses: Still very inexperienced with only 1 year of college ball under his belt. His body needs to mature and get stronger.
Projected 2007 Draft Range: #2 overall.
Consensus: If not for a guy named Oden, Durant would be a lock to go #1 overall. Still, he has a very good chance to be the type of player to carry a franchise for years and years in the pros. His length and great inside/outside game should translate well to the NBA game.
