NBA Draft Profile: Jamon Gordon
NBA Draft: Jamon Gordon
College: Virginia Tech
Class: Senior
Stats: ESPN.com
Position: PG/SG
Height: 6”3”
Weight: 212lbs
Accolades: ACC All-Defensive Team (05), All-ACC Third Team (07), ACC All-Defensive Team (07).
Scouting Report: A very well rounded player at both ends of the floor.
Strengths: Defense – Gordon is a master thief, registering over 270 steals for his career thus far. Fantastic rebounder for his size and position. Excellent assist man. Very good at penetrating and dishing to teammates or penetrating and scoring on his own. Very experienced – averaged more than 30 minutes a game all four years at Virginia Tech.
Weaknesses: Shoots the three-pointer for a horribly low percentage – under 30% for his collegiate career. Poor free throw shooter. His height and skill set is more like that of an NBA combo guard than a true point guard . Not a big time scorer in college. Can be foul prone.
Projected 2007 Draft Range: Mid second round pick – undrafted.
Consensus: Gordon’s defensive skills could get him a roster spot in the NBA. To really make his mark and stick around the League he will have to develop a more consistent outside shot and work on his point guard skills.
