College: Kansas
Class: Sophomore
Stats: ESPN.com
Position: SF/PF
Height: 6’8”
Weight: 225lbs
Accolades: All-Big 12 Honorable Mention (06), Big 12 All-Rookie Team (06), Big 12 Championship All-Tournament Team (06), McDonald’s All-American – high school (05), First Team All-State – high school, Illinois (05), USA Junior National Select Team (05), Third Team All-State – high school, Illinois (04).
Scouting Report: An athletic, explosive, inconsistent combo forward.
Strengths: Good scorer off the dribble. Can get up the court very quickly. Very explosive – attacks the rim. Spectacular dunker. Good rebounder. Racks up decent steal and block numbers. Good passer.
Weaknesses: Can be very inconsistent – in three straight games this year he had nine points, then 33 points, then eight points. Needs to improve his shooting range – doesn’t possess much of a three-point shot. Didn’t live up to expectations his sophomore year.
Projected 2007 Draft Range: Top 10 pick.
Consensus: Wright brings a nice package to the pros – great springs and speed, good passing skills, ability to blow by his man on the perimeter, strong finishing skills. He is a work in progress though; especially his outside shot has to improve before he becomes a dominant wing player in the NBA.
