The regular-season champion from a league (depending on the league's tie-breaker system) automatically gets a bid into the NIT. In the NIT, the higher seed hosts, but teams are matched up within seed geographically as opposed to a snake order.

Charlotte vs UNC

Charlotte at 4? That seems high -- they have some good wins, but the wheels have really come off down the stretch.

There is some buzz around a Charlotte vs UNC matchup -- good odds of that?

Horrible Tournament

As a Northeastern fan, and a team that probably will not even get into the NIT now, I must say that the new rules of allowing the first place teams to make the NIT is ruining the tournament. Teams like Stony Brook or Quinnipiac do not deserve to play in the NIT as they did not win there conference tournament. What happened to strength of schedule? The CBI will become the premier tournament behind the NCAA in the coming years if this continues.

Missing a team?

didn't quinnipiac win their regular season conference championship and therefore get an automatic bid into the nit?
