In conjunction with the regular Bracketology articles, here's a projected look at the 2010 NIT field. Teams with a are guaranteed a bid. The regular-season champion from a league (depending on the league's tie-breaker system) automatically gets a bid into the NIT. In the NIT, the higher seed hosts, but teams are matched up within seed geographically as opposed to a snake order. Green = new team. Arrows represent change in seed since last update.

THOUGHTS

--Due to some surprises in the smaller tournaments, the amount of at-large teams shrunk a good deal and thus the large amount of teams dropping out today. Perhaps will get another 1 or 2 lock bids tomorrow as well that will squeeze the likes of an Illinois St out.

-- NC State & Miami both make big jumps with hot play in the ACC Tournament, and you know the selection committee would love to get schools in from the name conferences.

What do you think about today's field?

Marshall a #6 seed???

I understand that the NIT committee likes the big name schools, but to have them seeded so high is very questionable. I'm a hugh Carolina fan. I have seen them a number of times live and this team is not a #3 seed in the NIT. I really believe that Marshall is alot better than a #6 seed. This is a team that could do some damage in the tounament. Good Job

Neither Harvard nor Princeton in the NIT??!! WHAT?

This is ridiculous!
Harvard has 21 wins, beat Boston College in Chestnut Hill, and nearly upset UCONN at UCONN.
Princeton has 20 wins, and lost to Cornell (Ivy champ and NCAA team) by only 3 twice.
If neither Harvard or Princeton make the NIT this year, I refuse to give any sort of legitimacy to that tournament.

Nevada Wolfpack

Nevada has had an up and down season but they are 7-3 in their last 10 games. However, with 20 wins and (11-5)in the WAC plus quality wins over Houston, New Mexico State (WAC Tourament Champs)(Twice) and a close loss to North Carolina... And with an RPI of 73... Well Nevada should be a six seed in the NIT. Without question they deserve to be in the field.
