The Non-BCS Top 25 is a weekly follow-up to the popular CHN Top 50 ranking. Using the power-conference teams ranked in the CHN Top 50 as a base, an in-depth look at the world of "mid-major" basketball is pieced together. The Non-BCS Top 25 will be released early Monday morning following the Top 50..

THOUGHTS

-- William & Mary and La Tech drop out in place of Kent State & Marshall. For Kent St, who have won 12 of 13, its the first time in the Non-BCS Top 25. Marshall is back after a length absence due to a 5-game winning streak. Marshall's having a wacky up-and-down season. They started 12-2, lost 5 straight, and now have won 5 straight again.

-- Wofford makes a first appearance in the Next in Line group. They've won 10 in a row, and are the Southern Conference champs. In their last 16 games, their lone was by just 2 points to 2nd place Charleston.

-- Rhode Island is the only team in the Top 20 or so to make a substantial move, unfortunately for the Rams, its the wrong direction. URI has lost 4 of 5, the latest being to lowly St Bonaventure. The Rams still have a top 40 RPI, but they've simply been struggling recently. They haven't beaten an RPI Top 100 team since Dayton on January 26th.

-- New Mexico, with an impressive and rare road win at BYU, is a clear #1 at this point. The Lobos have won 13 straight and are 7th in CHN's overall ranking, and 7th in the RPI. In the last decade, the #1 non-BCS RPI team hasn't come from the MWC. The A-10, CUSA, MVC, and WCC have been up there.
