This is a fairly biased question... there are teams in the "other" category that have a legit shot. Why lump them all together??

Because they, in fact, do NOT have a legit shot.

I probably would have had to put in some serious consideration to lumping in Bradley in the "other" poll for this one. No way they even finish top 4.

Why Wichita State has its own category and Bradley doesn't is sheer lunacy. Sure BU lost its leading scorer but it returns so much, adds in great new talent, and has some fantastic players coming off of redshirts. If Bradley can get an ounce of production out of Andrew Warren or Will Egolf then they will be very dangerous this year.
Your poll is a joke. List all the MVC teams next time.

Not sure if Bradley will win the MVC - the Valley season gets crazy and always unpredictable. However, the Braves are the darkhorse for sure this season and will be a legit contender this year. Let people pick them low - Bradley already knows what they need to do - and they are hungrier than ever this season and WILL be much improved.

When was the last time Bradley finished above a tie for 4th in the conference?
The entire Brave athletic department is a joke right now. They barely compete in any sport with any frequency except soccer.

You do realize that Bradley has won more than 21 games each of the past 4 years?

You do realize that Bradley had been to post season tournaments such as the CBI and CIT in the last 4 years. You're obviously not fooling anyone.
CHN actually has them picked 3rd in the league (which I was a part of ranking, though I personally would put them 5th in the pecking order) so not sure why I left them off.. valid gripe guys. I'll fix that.

Guess only Bradley fans have found this poll so far....

You're a good guy Shawn. Thanks for making the change.
Good luck to all the MVC teams this Non-con...even ISU. Ahem, especially ISU...Lord knows with that dismal non-con, any losses will sink the Valley rpi.
Go Braves!

It means soooooo much for BU to win this poll so keep voting!!!
You can even delete your cookies and vote more than once. yah!!!!!

The Valley is a 5 team race in my opinion. Which ever team gets hot and clicks at the right time will come out on top.
Some big games for this season: Bradley travels to BYU to open the season
Missouri State hosts Auburn
Indiana State travels to LSU
Wichita State with Pittsburgh and Texas/Iowa in CBE Classic
Northern Iowa in Paradise Jam starting with Depaul
Evansville hosts Butler
Creighton starts with Michigan in the Old Spice Classic
Bradley plays Oklahoma State in Las Vegas
Wichita State hosts Texas Tech
Missouri State travels to Arkansas
And the Iowa round robin.
The Valley needs some big wins in these games, otherwise it won't matter who finishes where, as only the Tourney Champ will be dancing again this year.

I love the guy who said look at BU they have won 20 games 4 straight seasons.
It's pretty easy to win 20 games when you are playing 36-38 games per season.
Someone wake me up when Jim Les finishes higher than 4th in the Missouri Valley. Until then they are a middle of the pack program.

yeah, what a joke.

Call me crazy, but I don't think Creighton isn't going to be much a factor this year as they have been in years past. I still count on them having a great season mainly due to their coach, but I definitely think they lack the size needed to take the crown away from the likes of UNI or Illinois State.
I am going to go with Wichita St. as my sleeper in the Valley and Indiana St. as my most improved team. I think SIU's problems continue as the season begins and they really won't find a solid footing in the valley until maybe a year or two down the road.
I think Bradley is pretty much in a holding pattern at this point with a better chance to move down than up in the conference. This is mainly due to a lack of quality talent that can put them over the top. Very obvious recruiting issues as Jim Les is simply not getting it done in Illinois where SIU and Illinois State are.
I'm going to give UNI the benefit of the doubt and say that they win it again. I think Creightons schedule is going to be way too demanding for the caliber of team they currently have. It could turn into something similar to what happened to SIU with their tough schedule last year.
I'll go....
UNI
Illinois St. (they are an osiris eldridge injury away from dropping)
Wichita St.
Creighton
Indiana St.
Bradley
SIU
Missouri St.
Drake
Evansville
Overall I see the Valley improving drastically as a whole. I'm looking at a few key upsets in the non-con that will seperate the men from the boys in this conference.

Actually the Braves have the returning players (off injury and regular returnees) and enough new blood to be quite competitive this season. Couple the returnees and guys back off injury and the Braves will be reasonably deep. The chance to bond and play in Brazil this past summer will also be a boon to the cohesiveness of their team. I look for Bradley to challenge for the title, but finish 2nd to Creighton.

You're being sarcastic right? (I hope)

finishes 5th or worse this season.
The key will be the frontcourt improvements of Will Egolf and Taylor Brown - backcourt is solid as usual.
The expectations are high for Bradley this season and they're not content just to win 20 games this season.
Look for BU to contend and don't be surprised if they finish in the top 3, which is expected of most BU fans this season.

It is expected of every team that they finish top 3, but you need to be realistic. BU is bringing nothing to the table this year that would get them beyond a 5th or 6th place finish.
It's time to start looking at the coaching situation at Bradley and make some changes, especially when it comes to recruiting.

Evansville's young team will make some noise this year.
