Return to the 2005-06 College Basketball Preview

CHN ranks the Top 144 teams and releases a preview per day with #1 being unveiled on opening day of the 2005-06 college basketball season.

Vs. Michigan State 11/30/04The massive undertaking that became the 2004-2005 Top 144 Preview at CHN proved to be successful. It is no easy task to rank and preview 144 teams in June, yet the rankings compared very well to other preseason rankings which came out months later.

Twenty-two of CHN’s top 30 teams ended the season in the Top 30 of the RPI. Dick Vitale had only 20 of his preseason Top 30 end the season in the top 30. The Top 144 beat out the USA Today preseason poll and equaled Andy Katz’s preseason top 25 and the AP Top 25 with 18 teams finishing the season in the top 25 of the RPI.

Some people were thrilled to see their school ranked, others were not so thrilled, to say the least, at where their team ended up. These previews were used as bulletin board material for teams upset with the seeming lack of respect. Sometimes they were right, but many times CHN proved to be right as well.

The 2005-2006 version of the top 144 will be bigger and better than ever with more information, more details and of course the predictions on 144 teams in college basketball. CHN will be revealing one preview a day starting with #144 on June 20th and ending with #1 on opening day of the college basketball season.
