CollegeHoopsnet.com’s Unsung Player of the Week

CollegeHoopsnet.com announced that Oral Roberts' Ken Tutt was named the nation’s Unsung Player of the Week, for the period ending February 19th, 2004. The 6-1 freshman led the Golden Eagles to a 2-1 record while averaging over 27 points per game.

The second leading freshman scorer in the country, Tutt scored a career high 30 points in a road win over Western Illinois, and then followed that up with 25 points in a win over Chicago State. He has scored over 25 points in each of his last 6 games, and has hit at least 4 three-pointers during each game in the streak.

For the season, the Garland, TX native is averaging 20.6 points per game and has hit 44% of his threes. ORU is currently 15-9 overall, and tied for third in the Mid-Continent conference with an 8-5 record. The Golden Eagles lost three starters, including all-conference forward Reggie Borges, from last year's 18 win team, but have maintained their success due to the play of Tutt and fellow freshman star Caleb Green.

This week’s finalists for Unsung Player of the Week honors include Darren Brooks of SIU, 2nd time finalist Greg Davis of Troy State, and Rice's Jason McKreith.
