CollegeHoopsnet.com’s Unsung Player of the Week

CollegeHoopsnet.com announced that Western Michigan's Mike Williams was named the nation’s Unsung Player of the Week, for the period ending February 11th, 2004.  The 6-8 senior led the Broncos to victories over Central Michigan, Bowling Green, and Ball State averaging over 23 points and 10 rebounds per contest.

Against Ball State, the Detroit native recorded his 5th double-double of the season with 25 points and 13 rebounds. He also shot 63% from the floor and added 6 blocks and 5 steals during the week.

Averaging 19 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, Williams has led WMU to an amazing 18-2 start, including 11-1 in the MAC.  Last season, the bruising forward averaged 13.6 points and 5.7 rebounds per game as the Broncos made the 2nd round of the NIT and finished with 20 wins.  As of now, the Broncos are well on there way to making the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998.

This week’s finalists for Unsung Player of the Week honors include Odell Bradley of IUPUI, John Lucas of Oklahoma State, and Northeastern's Jose Juan Barea.
