#143 Northeastern Huskies
2003-04: 19-11, 13-5
America East
By
Joel Welser
The
Huskies suffered a disappointing loss to Hartford in the opening round of
the America East tournament last year after posting a 13-5 conference
record. The lethal guard combination of Jose Juan Barea and Marcus Barnes
return and are poised to lead Northeastern to a deeper tournament run.
Who’s Out: Starters Javorie
Wilson and Sylbrin Robinson are gone, as well as role players Cornellius
Wright, Jesse Dunn and Lateef Martin.
Who’s In: A solid
recruiting class of Shawn James, Jamal Dart, Mantas Griskenas and Steward
Baldonado should fill some minutes off the bench.
Who to Watch: Jose Juan
Barea averaged nearly 21 points per game during his sophomore season. Add
nearly six assists per outing and one more year of experience, and you have
a great team leader on your hands.
Projected Conference Rank:
The competition for the top spot in the America East Conference will be
fierce but the Huskies don’t have enough weapons to hang in there in the
long run and will finish in 3rd place.
Projected Post-season
Tournament: none
