NBA Draft: Arron Afflalo

College: UCLA

Class: Junior

Stats: ESPN.com

News: Arron Afflalo News Feed

Position: SG

Height: 6’5”

Weight: 215lbs

Accolades:  McDonald’s All-American (high school) (04), Pac-10 All-Freshman Team (05), All-Pac-10 (06).

Scouting Report: A high scoring off guard with a decent outside shot.

Strengths: Good defender at the off guard spot.  Has become a very consistent scorer – pretty much guaranteed to score in double digits each game.  Good midrange shooter.  Shoots for a very high percentage for a shooting guard.  Improved his three point accuracy his junior year.   Also is a very good free throw shooter.

Weaknesses: Very poor showing in the 2006 NCAA tourney showed he can be a streaky shooter.  Will be a little undersized at the shooting guard spot in the NBA.  Not lightning quick or a high leaper.

Projected 2006 Draft Range: Late first round - early second round pick.

Consensus:  Afflalo showed in the last few 2006 NCAA tourney games that a decent defender can shut him down.  Another year in school to work on his game was the right move for him.  His ability at both ends of the floor will get him onto an NBA roster.
