Bradshaw is Big South Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Winthrop senior Craig Bradshaw (Wellington, New Zealand) has been selected as the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Feb. 5-11, while High Point guard Eugene Harris (Pittsburgh, Pa.) received New Balance Freshman of the Week honors, it was announced today by the League office.

Bradshaw averaged 17.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in helping Winthrop to two League wins last week, as well as securing a first round home game in the upcoming Advance Auto Parts Men’s Basketball Championship. In the Eagles’ 80-76, come-from-behind over Liberty, Bradshaw scored 20 points and hauled in 10 rebounds, while hitting 7-of-12 from the field ( =.583) and adding three assists and three blocked shots. At 11:12 remaining in the game, he sparked a 19-4 run with a three-pointer and posted seven points in the span to help Winthrop overtake the Flames. Against Radford, Bradshaw tallied 14 points and five rebounds, as well as two blocks. On the week, Bradshaw was 12-of-21 from the field ( =.571), 4-of-8 from three-point range ( =.500) and averaged 2.0 assists and 2.5 blocks. He also became the 33rd member of the Big South’s 1,000-point/500-rebound club during the week.

Harris averaged 10.0 points in helping High Point to two wins as well as holding onto second-place in the Big South standings. Against Coastal Carolina, Harris came off the bench and scored 11 points, including a trio of three-pointers in the first half that pushed the Panthers ahead for good. In the second half, he hauled in four key offensive rebounds, one of which led to a three-pointer and another that kept a Panthers’ possession alive with 1:50 remaining. Earlier in the week, he scored nine points in 17 minutes in High Point’s road win at Savannah State. For the week, Harris was 7-of-13 from the floor ( =.538), 4-of-8 from long range ( =.500), 2-of-2 from the line with three assists and two steals.
