Carroll is WAC Player of the Week
DENVER – Utah State guard Jaycee Carroll has been named the Western Athletic Conference men’s basketball player of the week for November 13-19.
Carroll, a junior from Evanston, Wyo. (Evanston HS), was named the Most Valuable Player of the BP Top of the World Classic played in Fairbanks, Alaska, over the weekend. Carroll averaged 24.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists in leading the Aggies to wins over Centenary, Drake and Weber State. He had 27 points against Centenary and then recorded his second career double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds versus Drake. In the championship game, Carroll scored 21 points versus Weber State. His 72 points were two shy of tying the all-time tournament record. Carroll was 23-of-40 (.575) from the field, 10-of-22 (.455) from three-point range and 16-of-18 (.889) from the free throw line. It is Carroll’s second career WAC Player of the Week award.
The other nominations were junior guard/forward Dominic McGuire, Fresno State; senior guard Matt Lojeski, Hawai‘i; senior forward Nick Fazekas, Nevada; and junior forward Justin Hawkins, New Mexico State.
