Games of the Night

A companion to our daily Three Stars of the Day, we present the top three Games of the Night.

#22 Florida (18-4) at #7 Tennessee (19-2)

9:00 PM ESPN

My prediction success has gone to crap the past few days.. but it would be hard to miss Florida at Tennessee. The Gators have the gaudy record and Top 25 ranking.. but they're coming off a blow out loss to Arkansas and have just a 2-3 road record. For the Vols, the wins just keep on coming, and the spread is almost 10 points this morning. In 3 of Florida's 4 losses, the point differential was 13+ points, so the large spread makes sense. However, I think the Gators will keep it close.

Prediction: Tennessee

Virginia Tech (14-8) at NC State (14-7)

7:00 PM

Virginia Tech has quietly moved into third place in the ACC, having won three straight games. Outside of UNC and Duke, its basically a race to see who can finish over .500 in league play.. which should be enough for any team to stamp a ticket to the Tourney. Its hard to know what to expect out of 3-4 State, who has been anything but dominant in home league games.. losing to Georgia Tech and barely beating Miami and Wake by 2 points. Despite these struggles, you can't pick Tech on the road where they're just 2-4.

Prediction: NC State

#15 Drake (20-1) at Illinois State (16-6)

8:05 PM

A couple weeks back, Illinois State at Drake was the Game of the Night when the Redbirds were unbeaten in league play.  Even though ISU has gone 2-3 since then, this one sets up to be a better game because of the venue. In their last meeting, ISU actually led deep into the 2nd half before Drake rallied late.. and this time I think they'll hold on to the lead.

Prediction: Illinois State
