Scouting Report: A long, lean shot blocking machine.
Strengths: Very athletic – fast runner with great leaping ability. Great shot blocker – 221 blocks for his career. Long limbs. Great free throw shooter. Very mentally tough – played through multiple personal tragedies this season. Decent back to the basic post moves. Very good rebounder. More than adequate scorer – over 14 a game his junior and senior years. Very experienced – played big minutes all four years at Alabama. Double-double machine – had 11 his senior season.
Weaknesses: Very thin – needs to add significant weight and strength for the pro game. Offensive game still needs work – still raw offensively. Shot for a horrible percentage from the field his senior year – 40.7% - very poor, especially for a big man.
Projected 2007 Draft Range: Mid second round pick.
Consensus: It was a very trying senior season for Davidson with his much publicized off court tragedies. On the court Davidson needs to add weight and muscle if he plans on sticking around long in the NBA. On the positive side, his length, shot blocking skills, rebounding and athletic ability (speed and springs) are up to snuff. He should find a spot in the League.
