College: Arizona
Class: Sophomore
Stats: ESPN.com
Position: SG/SF
Height: 6”7”
Weight: 205lbs
Accolades: All-Pac-10 Team (07), Pac-10 All Freshman Team (06), CHN Second Team All-Freshman Team (06), adidas All-American – high school (05).
Scouting Report: An athletic, versatile guard/forward.
Strengths: Very good scorer. Can post up smaller men or attack the defender from the perimeter. Great slasher/cutter – can get to the hoop. Strong enough ball handler that he can play some point guard. Great rebounder for a wing player. Shot almost 50% from the field his sophomore year.
Weaknesses: Turns over the ball way too much – averaged more turnovers than assists for his college career. Still very skinny – needs to get bigger and stronger for the NBA. Can hit the three but really needs to become more consistent of a threat from deep (shot under 30% from 3 and hit only 23 long bombs his sophomore year).
Projected 2007 Draft Range: Late first round pick.
Consensus: Williams is a very good NBA prospect due to his versatility and strong package of skills. His outside shot needs a lot of work, as does his body. If that occurs he could be a very good NBA player.
