News: Alando Tucker News Feed
Accolades: First Team All-Big 10 (06), Wooden Award Midseason All-American Team (06), Third Team All-Big 10 (05), Big 10 All-Tournament Team (05), Syracuse Regional All-Tournament Team – NCAA Tournament (05), Big 10 All-Freshman Team (03), Honorable Mention All-Big 10 (03).
Scouting Report: One of the best players in the NCAA his senior season.
Strengths: Big time scorer – scored over 2000 points for his career. Very experienced – played 5 seasons in the Big 10. Tough and strong. Is a magnet for the ball – gets rebounds and loose balls. Good rebounder for his size – over 700 boards for his career. Good leadership skills. Is an inside/outside threat – can hit the long bomb and also score in the post with his back to the basket. Great leaper – holds the Badgers’ vertical leap record with 38 inches. Finds a way to get to the hole and score. Gets to the free throw line – good for about 6-7 free throw attempts a game.
Weaknesses: Doesn’t shoot the three for a very high percentage. A bit of a “tweener” – will be too small for the power forward spot in the NBA, so he will have to work on his wing skills. Older than other seniors due to his redshirt year. Needs to improve his free throw %.
Projected 2007 Draft Range: Mid to late first round pick.
Consensus: Tucker may go down as another player who was a much better collegiate player than a pro. However, with his hardnosed style, leaping ability and a little work on his small forward skills he should be a solid NBA pro.
