The Next 25: Players Close to the Top 100

With over 3,000 players, Division I basketball is loaded with talent. The gap between player 100 and 125 is slim, and the gap between player 500 and 600 is even slimmer. Here are the 25 players who came closest to making the CHN Top 100 Player Ranking.  All are just a few good weeks away from making the Top 100, or just a few bad weeks away from being surpassed by unlisted stars.

Preseason Mid-Major All-Americans: 2011-12

Xavier star Tu Holloway headlines's Preseason Mid-Major All-America teams. He's joined by fellow seniors Andrew Nicholson of St Bonaventure and Drew Gordon of New Mexico. With the likes of Xavier, Temple, New Mexico, Gonzaga, and Memphis all capable of making runs in March, this could be a banner year for the Non-BCS conference schools. Jared Sullinger (Ohio St), Terrence Jones (Kentucky), and Harrison Barnes (UNC) are leaders on the nation's three best teams. Wooden Award Releases Preseason Top 50 List

Los Angeles (October 3, 2011)- The Los Angeles Athletic Club has announced its Preseason Top 50 list today on Chosen by a preseason poll of national college basketball media members, the list is comprised of 50 student-athletes who, based on last year's individual performance and team records, are the early frontrunners for college basketball's most prestigious honor.

Ohio State sophomore forward Jared Sullinger was a Wooden Award All American and finalist a year ago after averaging 17.2 points and 10.2 rebounds before opting to return to Columbus for a second season.

Wooden Award Midseason List Released

Duke forward Kyle SinglerLos Angeles (January 6, 2011)- The John R. Wooden Award Midseason Top 30 was announced today by The Los Angeles Athletic Club. Selected by the Wooden Award National Advisory Board, the list is made up of 30 student-athletes who, based on their performances in November and December, are the early frontrunners for college basketball's most prestigious honor. The Women's midseason list will be released early next week.

Returning players from past Wooden Award ballots include a pair of seniors: Duke's Kyle Singler (2009, 2010) and BYU's Jimmer Fredette (2010).
