The first month of the season is on its way out the door, with one more game to be played before the calendar shifts into October. It also marks the traditional time in recent years when leagues in search of more national exposure play games on just about any day that doesn't interfere with the NFL. Hence tonight's Sun Belt matchup between Florida Atlantic (1-3, 0-0) and Middle Tennessee (1-3. 0-2). Both teams have played tough BCS opponents in the non-conference schedule, but with differing results.

There were a few key injuries during the first weekend of the college football season, and teleconferences the past couple of days have provided some more information. Regarding Ohio State RB Beanie Wells, head coach Jim Tressel stated in his weekly teleconference that Wells right now is "doubtful for this week...I guess we'll have to go day by day". He also mentioned that Wells told him he felt good today, but was held out of practice.

The end of the first weekend of the college football season is finally here, with two games to be played on Monday. Both are intersectional affairs that offer up some intrigue in regards to postseason possibilities (Fresno State at Rutgers) and coaching changes (#18 Tennessee at UCLA). Before these games are previewed, here's a little bit on what happened in the two games that took place on Sunday.
