Just a quick rant on the West Region.

The number 1 seed Uconn is heading to Philly on Thursday to take on Chattanooga (18-16), the Southern Conference Champions. The game will be the second game of the day and will probably start around 3 pm. If they win they will face either BYU or Texas A&M in the Second Round.

The West Region looks like it is probably the easiest of the four regions. The top four seeds are Uconn, Memphis, Missouri, and Washington. I think that this region is pretty top heavy and I only see three teams that have a chance to win it, Uconn, Memphis, and Washington.

I really thought after the epic loss to Syracuse that Uconn would fall to a 2 seed and Memphis would take their spot, but they only had a few top 50 RPI wins and played in a weak conference. They do have a lot of great players like Dozier and Evans and it should be a great match-up if they square off with Uconn in the Elite Eight.

Washington was the Pac 10 regular season champ and they have a great freshman point guard in Isaiah Thomas. He is really quick and can give a lot of team trouble. Jon Brockman is a double-double machine and fights for every board. He is basically a poor man's Tyler Hansbrough, except he will probably have more success in the NBA.

We should see a 1-2 match-up in Phoenix for a chance to go to the Final Four. Although Uconn has not had much postseason luck lately, I think they are very motivated and want to prove that they deserve their seeding.

March Madness is finally here and I cannot wait till the games kick off. Hopefully Uconn will be cutting down the nets like they have the past two times they've come out of Phoenix.
