DeMarcus Cousins (LeFlore, AL) Picks Memphis

March 8th, 2009

Well all the suspense with the recruitment of DeMarcus Cousins (LeFlore, AL) is over with him picking Memphis this weekend. DeMarcus Cousins took an Un-official visit to Memphis this weekend for their regular season finally against Tulane.

DeMarcus Cousins who is rated the #1 center in the class of 2009 had been verbally committed to UAB during the fall signing period, before they decided not to honor his request of allowing him out of his letter of intent if Coach Mike Davis were to leave the school for another job.

That opened the door for many schools to make a run at trying to land the very talented big man. He also considered Washington, N.C. State and Kansas State before picking the Conference USA powerhouse Memphis.

This now gives Memphis two players ranked in the top five prospects in the class of 2009 with Xavier Henry (Putnam City, OK) and DeMarcus Cousins (LeFlore, AL). They also have commitments from Will Coleman (JC), Darnell Dodson (JC) and Nolan Dennis (Richland, TX).

Memphis is also in the running for two other five star prospects in #1 point guard John Wall (Word of God, NC) and Latavious Williams (Christian Life Center, TX).
