Virginia Tech’s big three combines for 53 points as Hokies take down Undefeated and #1 Wake Forest in front of 14,110 fans at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Malcolm Delaney, A.D. Vassallo and Jeff Allen combined for 53 points for Tech as well as solid contributions from their role players to defeat No. 1 Wake Forest in a stunning 78-71 victory. The win for the Hokies Wednesday marked its second victory over a No. 1 team in past three seasons. Wake Forest lost its first game of the season after being ranked No. 1 for the first time since the Chris Paul Era. Malcom Delaney led to Hokies with 21 points as Wake's Jeff Teague added 23 in the teams losing effort. The Hokies led by 10 at the half with the help of good hard-noised defense which held Wake's high powered offense to a season low 24 at intermission. The Hokies opened up the second half with a 5-0 run that led to a 15 point lead over the undefeated Demon Deacons. With the crowd behind them the Deacs railed back to come within 2 points with 1:49 left. But the Hokies held them off with solid defense and some shady free-throw shooting to pull off a key victory. The Hokies(12-6, 3-1) will travel to Miami for their next ACC match-up on Sunday. Wake Forest(16-1, 3-1) matches up for a possible No. 1 vs No. 2 match-up with Duke on Tuesday.
