This subtle, largely irrelevant movement on the AP wires caused countless Memphis fans to turn into piranhas. Their disdain for Coach Cal has taken the form of venomous slander and childish name-calling.

Nationally fans feel no pity for the hypocritical fan base formerly supportive of a two-faced coach. Its laughable to hate a coach (Calipari in this instance) for executing shady maneuvers against you when he just concluded seven years of executing the very same maneuvers FOR you.

College basketball, as in life, contains members with varying degress of ethical standards. Coach Cal situates himself near the very bottom of this totem pole. He knows he operates as an outsider in the coaching ranks. He knows his peers view him as a marauding, dishonest man who succeeds on his slick sales pitches to supportive, blinded fan bases and blatant media deception.

He knows this. He just doesn't care.

So Kentucky fans: Enjoy the talent influx, the enhanced national exposure, and the repeated tournament appearances all the while allowing this phony preacher to pull the wool over your eyes.

Character can be defined as what one does when no one else is looking. In this core value Calipari fails mightily.

Pitt will be fine without Dodson. Memphis will take the expected dip as Coach Cal decimates their/formerly his stellar recruiting class. Kentucky will be better.

Darnell Dodson will play some, not a lot. He will finish his career in three years as a forgettable allbeit nice supplamentary player.

But this former Pitt signee has caused an offseason feeding frenzy uncommon to West Tennessee.
