Padgett and Williams shine in Charm City Challenge
James Padgett and Jordan Williams left Maryland fans salivating after their performance in the Charm City Challenge which was played in Towson on April 5th.
Padgett, who was the game's MVP, finished with 22 points on 11 of 13 shooting. Padgett played 24 minutes and showed tremendous athleticism and versatility in his game. All of his baskets were layups or within five feet of the basket so the verdict is still out if he can post up and hit mid range jumpers at the college level, but he is definitely an upgrade from what the Terps have now.
Jordan Williams was receiving more hype then Padgett coming into the game, however, he did not fill up the stat sheet as much as Padgett did. Williams finished the game with 7 points and 7 rebounds but he made more of impact then his numbers would indicate. Williams was matched up against the 6 foot 9 inch 250 pound Oklahoma bound Andrew Fitzgerald and more then hold his own. Williams held Fitzgerald to 12 points and made a monster block against him in the second half. One of Williams' baskets was a nice 15 footer jumper that showed he can take defenders away from the basket and make shots.
Both players showed that they were worthy of all the hype that they had received and the future looks bright in College Park because of them.
