Apparently, nobody wants to be #1 in College hoops these days. In a stunning turn of events, the Providence Friars knocked off #1 Pittsburgh at "The Dunk", yesterday. With the exception of Matthew Ryter, no one, not even Digger Phelps or Rece Davis, saw this one coming. The Friars were able to force Pitt to turn the ball over 18 times in comparison to their 9 turnovers.

Providence jumped on the Panthers early and took an 18 point lead into halftime. Jamie Dixon and team made their late run, as all good teams do, but Keno Davis and the Friars were able to withstand the punch and come out victorious. Strong performances by Geoff McDermott and Weyinmi Efejuku on senior night made Providence alum recall the glory days of God Shammgod and Austin Croshere. This is quite a signature win for Providence and a decent showing at the Big East tourney should lock up a spot for the Friars.
