LSU sits On Top of SEC after Thrilling 2nd OT Victory
While most of the country was entrenched in the Duke vs. North Carolina matchup (and rightfully so) they missed out on what was the game of the night. Led by Tasmin Mitchell's 41 points and 11 rebounds, LSU defeated Miss. State 97-94 to take sole possession of first place in the SEC.
Mississippi State had a chance to win the game at the end of regulation with Jarvis Varnado at the line. He converted the first attempt to tie the score at 72-72 but missed the second with 19 seconds left. At the end of the 1st overtime with 32 seconds left Miss. St. could have taken the lead but Dee Bost was unable to convert on a layup attempt. Although Miss. St. couldn't get over the hump in the second half Jarvis Varnardo put in a valiant effort with a career high 31 pts. and adding 6 blocks.
What's most impressive in this game was LSU's stifiling defense beyond the 3 point line. Miss. St. came into the game hitting 48 3-point-shots in there last three games but were only able to hit 5 last night. This should bold well for LSU as they improve their record to 20-4 overall and 8-1 in the SEC. Come Monday look for the Tigers to crack the Top 25.

Background
I'm a basketball fanatic that bleeds blue. That's right I've been a Kentucky Wildcats basketball fan since 1984 when the first player I saw lace'em up was Kenny "Sky" Walker.
I graduated from Indiana University and spent 5 years in enemy territory. Lets just say the color Red just doesn't look good on me. In my spare time (away from the wife) I follow other sports such as MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), NBA, Boxing, and the NFL.
