Terps/NC St. Preview
Maryland Terrapins (17-10 overall, 6-7 ACC)
at
North Carolina St. Wolfpack (15-11 overall, 5-8 ACC)
Leading scorers: MD: Greivis Vasquez (16.5ppg) NCST: Brandon Costner (14.1ppg)
NCST is 13-3 at home, Maryland is 1-5 on the road
Outlook:
After two emotional games against North Carolina and Duke the Terps are looking to avoid the dreaded "letdown" when they take on North Carolina State. This is a Terps team that tends to come out flat on the road and falls behind early, something they must avoid against the Wolfpack. Despite their record, NC ST has talent and they posses a tremendous home court advantage. The Wolfpack have had the Terps number recently, especially at home, and they will be ready to play tonight.
As per the norm, Greivis Vasquez's play will determine if the Terps will have any success tonight. When Vasquez plays well, Maryland wins. When Vasquez struggles, Maryland loses. Maryland will need to limit turnovers and find someone to score along side Vasquez. Look for Cliff Tucker and Landon Milbourne to play major role in this game.
As a Terps fan I have witnessed players having monster games against Maryland. Players that are under the radar or do not have a high scoring average, always seem to play their best against Maryland. The Terps defense will need avoid making the likes of Costner, Fells and McCauley look like superstars if they want to leave Raleigh with a much needed "W".
Prediction:
ALL the signs are pointing to a Terps loss tonight. Maryland played its heart out against Duke and North Carolina and I wonder how much they have left in the tank. I believe NCST will jump out to a big lead but the Terps will claw their way back. I think this has been a different team since the 41point loss to Duke and they seem like they are playing with a purpose. I can see this game going either way but I think the Terps find a way to pull it out. Terps win 68-65.
FEAR THE TURTLE!!!!
