Earlier today one of the most talked about recruiting sagas of the spring period came to a close when standout shooting guard Xavier Henry announced he will attend University of Kansas in the fall.
He had been committed to Memphis last month before head coach John Calipari decided to leave for Kentucky. He had a clause in his (LOI) that allowed him to opt out if Coach Calipari left the school for a different University. After which he decided to re-open his recruitment which has led him to look at Kansas once again who had been his other finalist when he selected Memphis.
Another reason he had picked Memphis was the chance to play again with his older brother C.J. Henry who was a walk-on with the Tigers this past season and red-shirted due to injury. C.J. Henry will follow Xavier to Kansas after being cleared by the NCAA to play next season right away.
Xavier Henry has said in the past that Kansas was his dream school. It has family ties with the Henry's both parents attended Kansas and played basketball along with an Aunt.
This is a huge pick up for the Jayhawks who should be a one of the top teams in the country next preseason. They are returning key players in Sherron Collins and Cole Aldrich along with most of the team.
Xavier Henry and C.J. Henry join fellow recruits Elijah Johnson (Cheyenne, NV) a five star point guard and Thomas Robinson (Brewster Academy, NH) a four star power forward.
The Kansas Jayhawks should make a real run at another National Championship next season after adding these new pieces to the fold.
